ABOUT DANNY
I am a music journalist based in Washington DC focusing on the emerging Arabic music scene and artists from the Middle East, North Africa, and diaspora communities.
I’ve profiled artists, written in-depth features, and appeared on podcasts and television programs to contextualize music from the MENA region.
I’ve had the good fortune of writing about Arabic music and Arab artists for Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, The New York Times, GQ Middle East, and Billboard Arabia, among other publications.
I also co-host the Shik Shak Shook Ones podcast on the Afikra network, a show dedicated to music journalism and topical discussions about the emerging Arabic music scene.
In my own free time, I curated a weekly newsletter and music blog Sa’alouni El Nas—named after my favorite Fairuz song—which highlights new music from the MENA region and spotlights incredible creatives and artists.
